Problem:
When installing the Speech Add-in for Microsoft Internet Explorer using the "silent" install switch, no speech engines are installed.

Solution:
Only use silent install if a suitable speech engine is already installed. Products that include suitable speech engines include Microsoft Office XP and Microsoft XP, Tablet PC Edition.

Speech Add-in for Microsoft Internet Explorer

Problem:
When two or more separate SALT applications attempt recognition at the same time, each results in an error, and no recognition is performed.

Solution:
There is no solution for this problem in the Speech Application SDK v1.0 Beta 3, other than to manually avoid activating recognition simultaneously in multiple applications.

Problem:
Speech recognition accuracy may be low or prompts may get interrupted often while using speech-enabled Web applications.

Solution:
For optimal speech recognition accuracy, use a high quality, close-talk (headset) microphone. A universal serial bus (USB) microphone with gain adjustment support is recommended.

It is also important to ensure that the volume of any speakers attached to the computer is not too loud, as this sound can be accidentally interpreted as a user attempting to speak to the microphone.

Also, the volume of the microphone must be properly calibrated before using Speech Recognition. To do this, open Speech in Control Panel and use the Microphone Configuration Wizard to calibrate the microphone volume.
