1.        Scope

This service release introduces a number of new features we learned would make life of our customers easier, plus major and minor bug fixes. Generally, this release aimed to improved flexibility and stability of the Dent-A-View product.

All system requirements remain the same and no changes in behavior of existing facilities were made since the previous (8.2) service release, except bug fixes.

Following are descriptions of new features, bug fixes and known issues to the moment of the Service Release 8.5

2.    New Features and Fixes in 8.6

The interface was translated to German. The interface language will automatically be German if a this is the default language of windows 98 or if windows NT is used the
user can select it from the options menu.

2.2     Auto-Detect Feature
the software is now capable of detecting the type of scanner that is connected to the computer. This option needs to be supported by corresponding scanner and grabber card

2.3     Repair Database option
A new option in the “File” menu. This option enables you to repair a damaged database. The database is automatically backuped before the repair process starts.

2.4     Changing the scanner type in the options menu doesn’t change the Aluminium equivalent value – Status fixed.

3.        New Features and Fixes in 8.5

3.1.      DVControl module bug fix

The 3rd party connectivity module DVControl did not operate properly on attempt to add new patient. Status – fixed.

3.2.      Scanner problem during CPU-exhaustive screen saver or other concurrent tasks

Scanning images is synchronous operation and thus prohibits other tasks to perform in the same time. While scanning, Dent-A-View receives Real-Time priority. Status – fixed.

3.3.      General Protection Fault on attempt to close Print Preview with X button

Status – fixed.

4.        New Features and Fixes 8.3

4.1.      Permanent Filter Assignments

In the new version, all filters once assigned to an image are saved permanently in database, restoring every time the image is displayed. In every moment, image filtering can be canceled and reapplied again.

4.2.      Snapshot View As-Is

Due to customer requests, an image involving all possible transformations can be snapshot into external BMP file, exactly as it is displayed to the moment. This can be powerful tool for transferring images to simpler imaging systems (8-bit, no image processing) from Dent-A-View.

4.3.      Patients Sorted By Surname

Patient list is now sorted by surname and not by first name

4.4.      Crop operation sometimes generates images in wrong patient folders. Status – fixed.

5.        Known Issues

Following are issues discovered by our QA team and not fixed to the moment of the SP8.4 release.  We apologize for inconvenience and currently working to fix them. However, we prefer to acknowledge our customers about those issues in order to improve predictability of customer experience.

1.        General Protection Fault (GPF) on attempt to close scanner window after Abort operation performed. (Circumstances: Non-reproducible)

2.        When very first scan operation performed on a database, strange behavior spotted. All images resulted from scan enter same position in thumbnail view, overlapping each other. Attempt to activate an image from such view leads to numerous faults. (Circumstances: Non-reproducible)

3.        Image notes are bound by 64 characters.

4.        Images resulted by Snapshot, cannot be correctly imported back to the system. (Circumstances: Non-reproducible)

5.        On disk write operations, the system produces unclear indications or stays silent on disk-space problems.

6.        Sometimes crop produces blank white images. (Circumstances: Non-reproducible)

7.        GPF on attempt to open Database that was created from another program.

8.        GPF on attempt to Zoom-In in Print Preview mode. (Circumstances: Non-reproducible)
