Gameport support pack fot Windows Vista 32-bit - By Daniel Kawakami ============================================== This pack uses files from Windows XP Service Pack 2. It adds support for gameport controllers on Windows Vista 32-bit. Follow these steps to properly install the pack: 1) INSTALLING THE GAMEPORT DRIVER: ---------------------------------- - Open the Device Manager and locate the gameport device. - Double-click it to open its properties. Select the Driver tab and choose Update Driver. Don't search online if asked to. - Choose Browse my computer for driver software. - Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers" on my computer. - Choose "Sound, video and game controllers" and proceed. - Now click on "Have Disk...". - Locate the location where you extracted the pack and select the "Gameport" folder. - Select "Creative Game Port" and click on Next. - When prompted with a warning, click on Yes to install to complete the installation. 2) INSTALLING THE GAMEPORT DEVICES CONTROL PANEL EXTENSION: ----------------------------------------------------------- - Locate the location where you extracted the pack and open the "ControlPanel" folder. - Right-click the "Install.inf" file and select "Install", you MUST give permission to continue. - Open the Control Panel and choose "Classic View". Locate the "Gameport Controllers" icon and double-click it. - Click on the OK button to close the window. Wait a few seconds and you will be prompted with "Did this control panel work corretly?". Click on "Choose Open the control panel using recommended settings". - Reopen the Gameport Controlllers once again and give permission to continue. - Now click on the "Add..." button and and choose the correct model for your controller. - When prompted to install a new hardware. Select "Locate and install driver software". Don't search online if asked to. - Select "Browse my computer for driver software", locate the location where you extracted the pack and select the "Controllers" folder. Click on Next to proceed. - A security warning will be displayed, click on "Install this driver software anyway". - Your gameport controller is now installed and functional. 3) NOTES -------- - You can use Vista's Game Controller control panel extension to calibrate your controller, as it does not require elevated privileges. - However, to install or remove gameport controllers, you must use the "Gameport Controllers" control panel extension.
